Its not easy as there is a lot of learning to do, even after university, but it is a lot of fun and most people who are scientists are very happy in their jobs 🙂
Becoming a scientist is not hard — it starts by asking questions and exploring the possibilities systematically. Anyone can do that. And if you have done it for a whole pile of questions, at some point you will be regarded (and consider yourself) as a scientist. The hardest thing, then, may well be reconciling this activity with the rest of your life — finding a permanent rather than temporary position, and the time to devote to your family and friends and possibly even some hobbies other than your research…
