The really hard problem for programming write now is distributed and parallel computing. We understand reasonably well how to write a program to run on one computer, but not how to write it on many computers. So we can’t deal well with writing programs to run on the web (distributed–lots of computers in different places) or multicores (parallel—lots of computers in the same place). So I’d like to contribute to that.
