I wish I could stop terrorism and crime, not only would it be hugely rewarding but it would probably make me rich beyond all imagination!

In reality, what I do is a small part of a huge effort to reduce the chances of a terrorist attack on critical infrastructure such as roads, airports and power stations. By providing independent, expert advice on the uses and limitations of both automated cctv and regular cctv I help security managers up and down the country make the best use of the resources they have. This includes counter-terrorism but also more regular crime. The correct use of cctv can not stop crime, but it can help to get successful prosecutions and acts as a deterrent.

So I can’t give you an example of an incident that I personally stopped (It’s not Spooks) but I can confidently say that my work plays an important role.
