Not really no, in fact I thought it was a bit boring until I started watching TV shows like horizon when I was in my mid teens. I really wanted to be either a footballer, a pop star or an astronaut.

No, when I was young I wanted to be a medical doctor.

When I was about to finish school, I was already past the usual phase of wishing to become a sailor, fire fighter or holidaymaker. My preferences then included journalist, programmer, travel guide, translator and physician along with researcher, and for the latter, I really was not sure whether I would go for science, engineering or some humanities (e.g. ethnology, archaeology, anthropology or linguistics).

Having studied maths for two years already while still at school, I knew, though, that I would not want to go for pure maths, nor for a subject too far remote from it. Biophysics was a cool solution to this problem.

Nope. I just had an interest in it so I did A-levels, then a physics degree and all of a sudden it was too late to do anything else!
