The average life expectancy in the UK at present is 80 years. If you go back to 1960 it was 71 years. So in just 50 years our lifespan has increased by an average of 10 years which is probably due to improved medical care and improvements of life in general. If all goes well then young people in school tday should have an average life span of perhaps 90 years or more. But a genuine concern is a recent trend in our modern lifestyle where changes in our diet towards foods with high fat and sugar content combined with less exercise is causing roughly 20% of people in our country to be overweight and unhealthy. If this trend does not change then we might actually see a decline in our lifespan.

There are only general answers to this question, but they are summarized well in this 20 min TED talk.

We? As in the human race? I have no idea… probably longer than you and I. So how long have you and I got to live? I think average life expectancy in the UK is about 72, but if you go around jumping in front of buses then it will be considerably shorter! Just make sure you eat a healthy diet and eat plenty of exercise to fulfil your life expectancy as a human. You are human? Because animals have different life expectancys!
