I have a young son, who is just 4 and needs a lot of attention as he has a great deal of energy! So I now limit my working day to between 9.30am and 6pm during the week. However I also work late at night when my son is in bed and on nights at weekends. I estimate I work an aeverage of 50 hours a week which is less than I used to before my son was born.

I work 37 hours a week, on average at work. I should rephrase that, I get paid for doing 37 hours a week, I generally work more! Although I do get days off if I work extra long hours.

At home, I don’t do any science unless I’m helping with something like I’m a Scientist… The closest I normally get is shouting at the tele during the ‘science bit’ of shampoo adverts. My fiance is fed up of hearing my rants about “shine” and “nourishing hair shampoo” and the statistical viability of “72% of 86 women agreed.”

Something like 8h in the lab on weekdays, plus 4h at home each night.

I work between 50 and 60 hours a week, typically, but some of that (fortunately) is stuff I like, such as reading articles on new ideas.
