0 Question: if you created a deadly disease accidentally, would you tell the world to stop it or keep it a secret so no one could blame you? Asked by jimbobjones to Upul, Ian, Derek, Daniel on 21 Jun 2010 in Categories: General.
Derek Mann answered on 18 Jun 2010:
Yes I would certainly tell the world and take the blame rather than be responsible for lots of people dying.
Daniel Mietchen answered on 19 Jun 2010:
Part of being a good science is, as I just said, to be precise in reporting what you have done. Honesty is a prerequisite for this, and reporting the danger adequately would be imperative.
Ian Sillett answered on 21 Jun 2010:
I may have already done this in my running shoes! I’d tell people, of course, but I don’t work on stuff like that.
Upul Wijayantha answered on 21 Jun 2010:
I would let the world know, so everyone could protect themselves as best they can and more people can work on the cure so it could be stopped.
