I am English and as England has produced many nobel prize winners I would say science is very interesting in my country.

In most of my schools (all in Germany) yes, but I have always regretted that it was taught separately (phys/ chem/ bio/ maths) and not as a unit. It varied widely with teacher and across schools, though.
