It is fun but I think one reason why a lot of paople think it is either boring or too difficult is the way it is taught in our schools. This is not critical of your teachers who are all dooing the best job they can, but we need to find ways of teaching science in a way that it is fun. Events like this one help, we need more of them!

I love science, obviously but you’re right some people don’t like it. Generally, I think people say they don’t like science because they don’t understand it, or they think it’s not cool and that it involves white coats, goggles and geeks. Other people generally don’t enjoy it, which is fine because if everyone liked the same things the world would be boring.

What really annoys me is when people actively criticise science, despite all the wonderful things that we are surrounded by that are a direct result of science.

Science is certainly a lot of fun, because it is an intense dialogue with nature and that is fascinating. Why so many people say they don’t like (or even hate science), I honestly do not know (though I could imagine science teaching being part of the problem, and the way science is communicated). I would love to hear what you kids think about those who do, why they do it, or what we could do to provide them with some motivation to have another look.
