Well I did not do well at school, too many distractions! So after leaving school my A levels were not good enough for me to go to University so instead I got a job in a blood tranfusion lab where I helped get blood ready for transfusions in the hospital. I did a course at college on nights for 3 years and did well enough to get into University when I was 22. As my degree was in Biochemistry I guess that is when I started to become a scientist.
