      Well my original ambition when I was at school was to be either a professional footballer or an astronaut, so I failed on those! I guess my ambition when I was in my 20s and 30s was to be a successful scientist making important discoveries in biology and medicine which I hope I have achieved. Now my ambition is very boring really, to be healthy and live long enough to watch my son become captain of the England football team!!!

      My ambition… hmm… probably to find a good balance between work and play!

      Do something that at least some people both within and beyond my family will remember positively when I am gone. Current focus: Help in understanding how the brain works (or not), and in restructuring scientific communication.
