Watching the BBC science series Horizon on television when I was a kid, I liked it when they filmed people working in the labs and thought it would be a great job and it is!

When I saw scientists in action. In Eastern Germany, we had a system that allowed (some) students to take university courses before finishing school. I took several of these, and watching science being done was really toooooo fascinating to be ignored in my plans for the future. One of the subjects I took (when I was about 15) was biophysics, and it is probably no coincidence that this became my specialty.
