Liver disease is the only common disease that is on the rise and this is due to the way we abuse alcohol, poor eating, lack of exercise but also in some people it is caused by a virus or by a condition they have inherited. When liver disease progresses to either cirrhosis or cancer there is no treatment and the majority of patients suffer a rather painful and unpleasant death. I want to prevent this suffering and find ways to reverse the damage caused by injuries to the liver. I also want to find a way to prevent liver cancer which is going to become a major cause of death.
